A NEW YEAR’S PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I humbly come before you asking that in this coming year, you would bless and protect each member of my family. I pray that you would fill them with your Holy Spirit and that they live their lives dedicated to you and love toward their neighbors. I pray that they continue to worship you and grow in the faith through daily reflection in your Word and through prayer. I pray that you make their houses safe and secure, that there is food on the table, and that they may all enjoy good health in the coming year.

I pray Father, for Immanuel Lutheran Church, that our church might always be faithful to your Word. I pray that our youth will grow ever closer to you through Sunday school and all other youth activities. I pray that each member of Immanuel will “Proclaim, Live, and Share” your Word not only on Sunday but all the days of 2024

I pray Father, for our nation, for we have not been this divided since 1861. We no longer love, care for, and respect each other. Instead of seeing each other as brothers and sisters in Christ, we now see each other as enemies who we must subdue in any way we can. I pray that your Holy Spirit would sweep across this nation touching the lives of all who live in this land, so that we will no longer see each other as threats, but rather as fellow members of the body of Christ. This land will only stand as long as we are faithful to you and live our lives according to your Word.

I pray Father, for an end to the warfare and violence that have plagued the countries of the world. Help us all to realize that whether Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male of female that we have all been created in your image.

Father, I pray for all who are sick and suffering and ask for healing for them.

I pray that you would protect those who keep guard and watch over us. I pray for your peace, comfort, and the sure and certain hope of the resurrection for those who have lost loved one and those who will lose loved ones.

I ask all of this, in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen!
