“The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God... I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.” Abraham Lincoln

Two of the greatest leaders in the history of the world both recognized and acknowledged the importance of giving thanks to almighty God, for all of the blessings that He has bequeathed to us over this past year. Both of these leaders call for a day of THANKSGIVING TO GOD ALMIGHTY.

Sadly, there are some people, including leaders of this country, who are offended by a day of THANKSGIVING TO GOD and instead wish to rename it “Friendsgiving.” This is a denial of not only the blessings of God, but indeed the existence of God. An attempt to replace the blessings that God gives us with some empty, meaningless, day called “Friendsgiving” is ridiculous. What does that name even mean?

It is an attempt, by those in power and those who prop them up, to replace our reliance upon God with a reliance on government as our benevolent provider. The insanity that rolls forth from some people never ceases to amaze or should I say make one laugh.

Our great leaders Washington and Lincoln realized, “If you will only obey the Lord your God, by diligently observing all his commandments that I am commanding you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth; all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you. And at the same time realized that if you will not obey
the Lord your God by diligently observing all his commandments and decrees, which I am commanding you today, then all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you...” Deuteronomy 28

Years ago they tried to replace Merry Christmas with Happy Holidays. Let us not let them try to replace a day of THANKSGIVING TO GOD with something as childish and meaningless as “Happy Friendsgiving.”
