We are indeed living in strange times. Just getting through the pandemic and now we are faced with “manufactured” hatred. I say manufactured because the hatred that is rearing it’s ugly head has been created by people who want to foment violence and make money.
“If you don’t give me money, I will burn, loot, pillage, and plunder.”
“If you don’t make up for the sins of the past by giving me money, I will loot, burn, pillage, and plunder.”
“If you don’t give me money because I am different than you, I will loot, burn, pillage, and plunder.”
I believe that is called extortion. I believe creating hatred is A HATE CRIME. How did we get here? Because we have decided that vices are more important than virtues. Because we have decided that doing evil is now acceptable. Because we have decided that we want to focus on our differences. Because we have negated God from our culture. I’m not talking about negating religion, I’m talking about negating God and the virtuous path that God lays out before us.
Jesus said, “Forget about keeping all 613 laws. Keep two and you’ve kept the other 611. Love God and love your fellow human beings.” That’s it. Hate is the absence of love. If you don’t love, you will hate. “ It ain’t rocket science.”
Science tells us that “nature abhors a vacuum.” In other words, if there is a void something will rush in to fill the void. If there is a void of love, hate will rush in to fill the void. If there is a void of goodness, then evil will rush in to fill the void. If there is a void of gentleness, then harshness will rush in to fill the void. If there is a void of unity, then disunity will rush in to fill the void.
Paul talked about the void of unity when he said in Colossians 3: 11. “In that renewal there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all!”
Unity does not come from equity, nor does it come from the 1619 Project, the Critical Race theory, or anything similar. In fact, those that endorse those ideas are only serving to divide us and when you divide it, it is easy to conquer. No, the only thing that will bring true unity is the Word of God, “… there is no longer Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free; but Christ is all and in all!” If our churches, if our schools, if our governments would truly believe and practice that, there would be no hatred only love, no evil but only goodness, no disunity, only unity.
Veritas,
